I was chatting with Niel and the question came up of what features/functions/etc were still missing from SKS6 that were there for SKS5. Why are the two version still needed to create a skin? So here is your chance to let him know what's missing. Are there times you have to go back or forth? What for? Are there times you have to go into the code because there's no UI for it in SKS6? Any thing else that might be keeping you from converting over? Let's try to keep...
Dear Editor: Every year I am disheartened to see the anniversary of our country’s birth relegated to just another day of the month by so many people who call it the “4th of July” instead of “Independence Day”. I see it on adverts and in the local papers. No one calls Christmas “December 25th” because those that celebrate it as a religious holiday know that the cause for celebration is in the name. By calling Independence Day, “Independen...

[Origianlly posted April 4th, 2005] I was talking last week with some friends about intimacy; how we as a group get together weekly and have been for years and there is still a hesitation to open up and be intimate with the group. I think that the biggest deterrent that came up was a fear of being judged. As usual, I have mixed feelings about this. I think that as responsible people we have an obligation to judge. I think that a fear of being judged poorly is a control in our society...
Ithink that the water at the office should be treated with a blue tint. One that can only be removed with soap. A dye like dentists give kidsto chew after they brushed their teeth. I believe this would cut backon the fallacy of magic water. Magic water is the water that comes outof the sink and kills any germs or bacteria without the use of soap. I'mamazed how many of my co-workers believe in magic water. And theydisgust me. And those people who are on their way out of the restroo...

Years ago I wrote an essay on what I believed. years later I submitted it to NPR for their series "This I Believe". Late last year it was picked up by the local NPR affiliate and went live on the air today. My essay's page at KUHF : Link Aaron Klenke has learned to appreciate the little things in life. He manages a software development team with associates working all across the globe. At home, Aaron has a lovely wife, four beautiful daughters and a loyal dog. He admits that most of his days...

I just read an article about a suburb of Cleveland OH that has become a ghost town due to all the evictions etcetera in the area. The fact is that people that couldn't afford houses bought houses. Sometimes they lied about jobs or income, sometimes lenders didn't check or didn't care if the borrowers could afford to make payments. In many cases people got variable rate mortgages and got in trouble when (surprise, surprise) the rates went up. Lenders are businesses. Their job is to make money off...

A while back I suggested trying to start a series where the community could get an idea of what made the Masters amongst us tick; what inspires or motivates them; how do they do what they do. You, the community dove in and sent me piles of questions. I’ve culled through them, chunked them into an order that will allow us to start shallow and get deeper into them as technician, artists, and individuals. The response from the Masters was also excellent and increased the scope of this project d...

Some evenings, I try to get a certain mellow mood when I'm in front of the PC. I've got some R&B playing. I'm running some skin hue shifted to be warm and cozy. Up until recently that's as far as I could take it. But that's changed now by a market leader. Through Yankee Candle's Custom candle service you can now have votive candles that reflect your decor, mood, or fragrance needs. Pop on over the the Custom Candle Creator and you can choose your label, message...

The Master skinners at Wincustomize are a special breed of people. They done the time here. They skin, they mentor, they skin some more. So I'm going to try to suck them dry of anything and everything they know. I want you, the community to send me your questions. I'll collect them, pick out a couple, and try to collect answers to post here. No question is too big or small; too general or specific. It can target one master (but I'll probably open it up too many if...
