What sorts of features would you like to see in the 4.x series?

I would like to see a zoom tool integrated into DX4
There are plenty of other tools that can do this. In Vista there is Magnifier which is built in and Google will yield results for XP and others.

Personally I think development should be concentrated in areas not covered elsewhere.

This can be used in DX? I have never used it. I'll look into it. But I'm for anything taht will make DX easier to use, both for the user, and the builder.

indeed

Also @RedneckDude any magnifier should work with DX since mostly they only have issues with videos (except for flash videos)

I am making a little something atm and it would be a lot more useful if there was a way to open object properties window and do stuff you usually can do only via the properties window using scripts - mostly this would enable users to create own tools for developing new widgets and making their lifes easier.

Also it would be nice to get OnLButtonDownEx and OnRButtonDownEx.

If it hasn't been mentioned (as most of this is mumbo jumbo to me) stop widgets, weather, clocks etc.. from shifting positions after maximizing and minimizing other windows please.

A GOOD NEWS!

Today I tested DesktopX 3.5 Pro on Windows 7 Ultimate x86 (Build 7127 RTM) during a few hours. It's works perfect! As well as DX and Sidebar gadgets. Moreover, it seems to me that it works here much more stably than on Vista! So I'm sure we will not have many problems after migration to Windows 7.

Long Live Stardock!

sorry for double post...

You didn't try ActiveX controls There are some new visibility problems when running gadgets.

But otherwise, it's pretty solid and everything seems to be working ok (or at least all my workarounds for Vista are still working).

Is DX even currently being developed?

I know it has some issues on Win 7.  Is Win 7 going to be fully supported?

it's actually REALLY important to me.

Yes.  But it will be more so later in the year.

Hmmmm.... There are a list of controls that I tested: MS TreeView 6.0, MS ListView 6.0, MS ImageList 6.0, DX PushButton, DX CheckBox, DX EditBox, DX ListBox and DX ComboBox. All works!

I know the web browser works in Win7 as im using it in a gadget.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. ActiveX controls load just fine and work as required, but there are some Windows 7 specific bugs with visibility.

You can download an archive with a few examples here.

  • If you try ActiveXBugExample.dxpack, you can see a problem with ActiveX controls in a layer showing through when dragged. This is happening on XP, Vista & 7.
  • ActiveX clone is a little example with broken cloning of ActiveX controls. I still need to make a post with the workaround so people know how to fix it.
  • ActiveXVisibility when loaded in DesktopX works fine (the Show/Hide controls are not used in this example). Now try loading the gadget (exe) on XP or Vista. Should present a semi-transparent background like in DX Builder. That same gadget on Windows 7 shows a black box where the hidden ActiveX should be.

The first two I reported already, the last one I still need to find a proper workaround before making a proper bug report.
