I love Fences!

Fences is a one-of-a-kind program, allowing you to draw labeled shaded areas on your desktop, which become movable & resizable containers for your desktop icons. These groups can help bring organization and consistency to your computer's desktop, solving the "constant mess" problem that has plagued the desktop since its inception.

Fences also helps you finally appreciate the wallpaper you have hiding behind all of that clutter.
In addition to its organizing features, Fences offers a novel quick-hide feature (in-patenting-process). Double click your desktop, and all your icons will fade out. Double click again, and they'll return.

To Jeff for this one, Zu.

Not often a reputable corporation which sells really good software gives away a program which genuinely helps people achieve order on their cluttered windows desktop.

I don't know if the industry gives awards for this kind of thing, but someone at Stardock should notify PCMag about Fences.

Really.

I think Jeff deserves recognition for this project, and I just don't know how to do that beyond "Thank you very much, Jeff!".

But yeah, Fences looks great. I'll be sure to give it a shot. Thanks!

Looks awesome, wish it was as cool looking on XP.  If I had Vista or XP, I would get this today!!!  It's FREE!!!  Amazing work for a "side project".

Almost makes me wish I had icons on my desktop.

I feel exactly the same. I don't have any use for fences since I bought objectdock plus but I think it's great that Stardock has released this program and you can get for free no less!

Home run!!! Five minutes with Fences and I wonder how I ever did without it

Before Fences I'd create custom wallpaper that had boxes of color for all my projects.   It was useful . . but sucked.  This is so much better!

I don't use my desktop for anything, but this looks interesting - will definitely have to give it a go

I switched out from Objectdock to Fnces as i really liked the end result i got with the program

My desktop with fences loaded.

I especially like the way the scroll bars dissapear unless you need them. Great for gouping programs with only the most commonyl used ones on show.

I do not use my desktop either... I like to look at my Aquarium 2009    However, I started putting some shortcuts in Fences to try it out, and it is way cool.  I can see how this would be very handy for people who use their desktop. And it is free!!  Way to go Jeff & Stardock!!

Just remember that double-clicking on the desktop hides all the fences (and icons).

Yes I saw that... I have since loaded a bunch of fences.  This is great! double-click... everything I need... double click... disappeared.  Ingenious.
